Two-Wheeler Insurance that keeps you riding — legally and protected.

Third-party cover is compulsory for every bike in India — but it won't pay a rupee towards your own vehicle. Comprehensive cover protects your two-wheeler against accidents, theft, fire and natural calamity, for a surprisingly small premium. We compare insurers to get you the right cover at the best price.

The basics

What is two-wheeler insurance?

Two-wheeler insurance covers your scooter or motorcycle against damage, theft and the legal liability you owe others. A comprehensive policy pays to repair or replace your own bike too — not just the third party — so a single incident doesn't leave you out of pocket.

What's typically covered

  • Own damage — accident, fire, vandalism
  • Theft of your bike
  • Natural calamity — flood, storm, earthquake
  • Third-party injury, death & property damage
  • Personal accident cover for the owner-rider
  • Pillion-rider cover (add-on)
  • Towing & roadside assistance (add-on)

Good to know

  • Third-party cover is mandatory by law to ride
  • New bikes need a 5-year third-party policy
  • Your IDV falls each year with depreciation
  • Consumables & regular wear aren't covered (add-ons help)
  • A lapsed policy can reset your No-Claim Bonus to zero

Exact terms are governed by the insurer's policy wording — we help you understand them before you buy.

FAQs

Two-wheeler insurance questions

Is two-wheeler insurance mandatory?

Yes — at least third-party cover is required by law, and riding without it is an offence. We recommend a comprehensive policy for real protection of your own bike.

Comprehensive vs third-party — what's the difference?

Third-party covers only damage or injury you cause to others. Comprehensive also repairs or replaces your own bike after an accident, theft, fire or natural calamity.

What is a long-term two-wheeler policy?

New bikes are issued a 5-year third-party policy; you can pair it with a 1-year own-damage cover. It saves you from yearly third-party renewals and price hikes.

Is zero-depreciation worth it?

On a new or premium bike, yes — you get the full cost of replaced parts without a depreciation deduction, so your claim pays more.

My policy lapsed — what happens to my NCB?

If you renew within 90 days of expiry you usually keep your No-Claim Bonus; beyond that it's lost. Don't let it lapse — we send reminders so you renew on time.
