Commercial Vehicle Insurance that keeps your business on the road.

A commercial vehicle is a livelihood, not just a vehicle — an accident or breakdown stops your income. Commercial vehicle insurance protects the vehicle, your legal liability, and the people it carries or employs, so one bad day doesn't halt your business. We compare insurers for the right cover at a competitive premium.

The basics

What is commercial vehicle insurance?

Commercial vehicle insurance covers any vehicle used to carry goods or paying passengers — trucks, tempos, taxis, autos, buses and vans. It protects the vehicle (own damage), your legal liability to others, and your statutory liability to the driver and staff you employ.

What's typically covered

  • Own damage — accident, fire, theft, calamity
  • Third-party injury, death & property damage
  • Legal liability to your paid driver & cleaner
  • Personal accident cover for the owner-driver
  • Passenger / goods liability options
  • Add-ons — towing, EMI protect, passenger PA

Good to know

  • Cover & premium depend on GVW, seating and permit
  • Third-party rates are higher than private vehicles (by law)
  • A valid permit & fitness certificate are required
  • The driver must hold the correct commercial licence
  • Overloading beyond RC limits can void a claim

Exact terms are governed by the insurer's policy wording — we help you understand them before you buy.

FAQs

Commercial vehicle questions

What counts as a commercial vehicle?

Any vehicle used to carry goods or paying passengers — trucks, tempos, pickups, taxis, autos, vans and buses. Private cars used purely for personal use are covered under motor insurance instead.

Why is commercial third-party premium higher?

Commercial vehicles carry more risk and higher potential liability, so IRDAI sets higher third-party rates by vehicle class, weight and seating capacity.

Does it cover my driver?

With legal-liability-to-employees cover, yes — injury or death of your paid driver or cleaner arising out of employment is covered. We make sure it's included.

Do you handle businesses with many vehicles?

Yes. In India each vehicle is insured on its own policy — the Motor Vehicles Act requires a valid certificate of insurance for every vehicle to ply. We manage your whole fleet together: aligning renewal dates, arranging a fleet discount where the insurer offers one, and giving you a single point of contact for every vehicle.

Will overloading affect my claim?

Yes — carrying beyond your RC's permitted load can lead to claim rejection. Stay within your vehicle's limits to keep your cover valid.
